Warts & Verruca Treatment

Warts are small lumps or growths of skin that are rough and hard to the touch and are common on the hands and face but can appear anywhere on the body. They are completely harmless and do not usually cause the sufferer any pain, however, a lot of people find them unsightly and choose to treat them with medications.

The cause of warts is the human papillomavirus (HPV) and they eventually go away by themselves without treatment. However, this can often take 1 or 2 years and sometimes even as long as 10 years, so treating them quickly and simply is the option that people normally go with.

Verrucas are exactly the same as warts; they have the same symptoms, the same look and feel and the same cause. The only difference is that verrucas specially refer to warts on your feet, usually on the soles.

Community pools and showers are a particular breeding ground because they are more contagious when the skin is wet, but you could also spread them to others by sharing socks or shoes.

The easiest way to treat warts and verrucas is to simply leave them; they will go away on their own. But they can be unsightly on the hands or face (making people self-conscious) and they can be painful on the souls of the feet.
